Quintessence (November 2009)

Quintessence is the 3D platformer game that my colleagues and I had worked on for our Full Sail University final game project. The player will alternate between two main characters and use their unique abilities to overcome environmental obstacles and defeat villains to restore balance to this mystical world. The team behind the game, Violent Protests, consist of 2 Game Desing students (internal producers), 7 Game Developement students (programmers), and 6 Game Art students (artists). We had a month and a half to plan and 3 months to make it happen. All artists are also required to make a high res asset for demo reel on the side while working on the game.

My role in Quintesence:

My main role in this project is to model, texture, rig, and animate the 2 main antagonists of the game. I also create most of the character effects, all loading screens, a couple of repeatable textures, a few environmental assets, and a sound track. From this project, I had learned that the process of game art is not always stream-lined, especailly when working with a small game engine being created and used for the first time. This project is definetely a great problem-solving experience as well as allowing me to demonstrate my flexibility in game art.

Houghton Game Jam (April 2010)

The Houghton Game Jam is an annual competition held in Northern Michigan. The games have to be made within 24 hours. I worked on a team with my programmer friend Garrett Hoofman on a 3D platformer. The game uses XNA for the frame work. Within the 24 hours (20 if take out breaktimes and whatnot), I did concept, model and texture character and environment pieces, rig, and animate. The game ended up second place and was a very fun experience.

Last Survivor (Current)

Last Survivor is the debute project from Pixel Factory. The projected release date is spring of 2011. It is a zombie shooting iphone/ipad game which is also aimed to be one of the best looking mobile game up to date. My role in Last Survivor consist of environment modeling, texturing, lighting, rendering, 2d paint overs, and misc effects. Currently no in-game images nor videos are available for release yet.
